Operations MBA resume: template, bullets and sample

Operations resume: show cost, time and quality moved by what you did

What recruiters scan for

  • Scale of what you ran: units, plants, vendors, orders, headcount, or the Rs value of spend.
  • Before and after improvements in cost, cycle time, quality (defects, returns) or service levels.
  • Method: whether you used Lean, Six Sigma, TOC or data analysis, and a named result, not just a label.
  • Cross-functional work with procurement, finance, sales and vendors, and how you handled conflict between them.
  • Hands-on credibility: you have been on the floor, in the warehouse or on the route, and understand constraints.

Mistakes to avoid

  1. Describing the role ('monitored production') with no figure for cost, time or quality.
  2. Claiming Lean or Six Sigma skills without a named tool or a project outcome.
  3. Missing scale. State units, sites, vendors, headcount or spend.
  4. No before and after. Improvement needs a baseline.
  5. Taking credit for plant-wide improvements that came from a team. Say what you owned.
  6. A resume with no sign of hands-on exposure, which operations recruiters distrust.
