Marketing MBA resume: template, bullets and sample

Marketing resume: show the customer insight and the business result

What recruiters scan for

  • Brand and category names, and your exact role in the work, not the team's role.
  • Business outcomes: revenue, leads, share, retention or cost per acquisition, not impressions or likes alone.
  • Evidence of a customer insight that changed a decision: a segment found, a message tested, a price or channel shifted.
  • Breadth across brand, digital, research and sales, or depth in one of them, depending on the role you target.
  • Writing and structure: clear bullets and clean formatting are read as a sample of your communication.

Mistakes to avoid

  1. Reporting vanity metrics (impressions, likes) with no link to leads, sales or retention.
  2. Saying 'managed social media' without scale, channels, goal or result.
  3. Claiming team campaigns as your own. State your role and decisions in one phrase.
  4. A skills section full of tool names with no bullet showing you used them.
  5. No evidence of customer understanding. Add one line about research, interviews or segmentation.
  6. Brand names doing all the work. Recruiters want to know what you changed, not only where you worked.
