  • Data scale and tools: dataset size, SQL or Python skills, and platforms you used.
  • Impact: a decision, saving or revenue change that followed from your analysis.
  • Communication: dashboards, reports and presentations that non-technical stakeholders used.
  • Rigour: how you validated results, handled messy data and avoided misleading conclusions.

Analytics hiring weighs projects and SQL tests above certificates. Confirm current names and exam codes on each issuer's site before listing.

Mistakes to avoid

  1. A tool list with no project showing the tools used. Attach each tool to a result.
  2. Describing models by name (random forest) with no metric, data size or business use.
  3. Technique-first bullets. Lead with the business question and the decision.
  4. No mention of data quality or validation, which suggests you trust data blindly.
  5. Dashboards 'built' with no information about who used them or what they changed.
  6. Overstating machine learning. Be honest about what is analysis and what is modelling.
