Entrepreneurship MBA resume: template, bullets and sample

Entrepreneurship resume: show what you built, what it earned, what you learned

What recruiters scan for

  • A real venture or side project: what it does, for whom, and how long you ran it.
  • Traction in numbers: users, customers, revenue, margins, retention or funds raised, with dates.
  • Your role and decisions: what you owned (product, sales, hiring, fundraising) and what you chose to do or stop.
  • Resourcefulness: results achieved with limited money, time or team.
  • Honest learning: what failed, why, and what you changed. Investors and hiring managers both read for this.

Mistakes to avoid

  1. Describing a venture with no traction numbers, dates or customers.
  2. Calling yourself 'founder' of something with no real customers, revenue or users. Be honest about stage.
  3. Hiding failures. A shut-down venture with clear lessons beats an inflated one.
  4. Vague roles: 'handled everything'. List the 3 things you owned and the results.
  5. Revenue or user numbers with no time period, or with vanity totals (downloads, followers).
  6. A resume that reads as an unemployed gap. Show the work, dates and outcomes.
