What recruiters scan for
- Education and credentials: school, grades, and CFA, FRM or NISM progress, which they read first.
- Hands-on exposure: the models you built, deals or portfolios you worked on, and the size of each.
- Accuracy: consistent figures, units and dates. One error in a finance resume reads as carelessness with numbers.
- Tool depth: what you do in Excel, whether you have used Bloomberg, Capital IQ or FactSet, and any coding.
- Judgment: a call you made, a risk you flagged or a view you defended, not just work you executed.

Mistakes to avoid
- Listing 'financial modelling' with no model, company or output named. Name what you modelled and what it was used for.
- Reporting returns or growth without a baseline or time period. A number needs a comparison.
- Inconsistent units or dates (Rs crore in one line, Rs million in another). Pick one and stay with it.
- Claiming CFA or FRM progress that is not accurate. Recruiters check, and it ends the conversation.
- Describing audit or compliance tasks without the risk you found or the control you improved.
- Skills lists that name Bloomberg or Capital IQ with no sign you used them. Attach each tool to a bullet.
