Eligibility

  • Graduate in any discipline from a recognised university, with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).
  • Final-year students are allowed under at least one programme clause. Admission is then subject to 50% (45%) in the qualifying exam.
  • Business Analytics, Infrastructure Development & Management and the dual-degree programmes carry additional criteria. Read the programme page.
  • No work-experience requirement is listed in the eligibility we checked. No separate reserved-category fee is stated.

Pattern and marking

SectionQuestionsMarks
General English1010
Analytical & Logical Reasoning2020
Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency2020
Ethics, Morality and Values1010
Total6060

The test lasts 60 minutes. Every question has four options and carries 1 mark. A wrong answer costs 25% of a mark, which is 0.25. Unattempted questions score 0. You can attempt the sections in any order, and the bulletin sets no sectional time limit.

SNAP scoreScore = Right - 0.25 x Wrong (out of 60)
Example. You attempt 48 questions: 36 right, 12 wrong, 12 left blank. What is your score and accuracy?
  1. Wrong-answer penalty = 12 x 0.25 = 3.
  2. Score = 36 - 3 = 33 out of 60.
  3. Accuracy = 36 / 48 = 75%.

Answer: 33 marks at 75% accuracy. The 12 blanks cost nothing.

Example. Each question has four options. What is a guess worth with no elimination, one option eliminated, and two eliminated?
  1. Blind guess: p = 1/4. Gain = 0.25 x 1 - 0.75 x 0.25 = 0.0625.
  2. One option out: p = 1/3. Gain = 0.3333 - 0.6667 x 0.25 = 0.1667.
  3. Two options out: p = 1/2. Gain = 0.5 - 0.5 x 0.25 = 0.375.

Answer: A blind guess is barely positive (+0.0625), but each elimination lifts it. Guess when you can remove at least one option.

Splitting 60 minutes across four sections

With no sectional limit, you set your own clock. One proposed split puts the two 10-question sections first, then the two 20-question sections.

Example. Is 8, 6, 20 and 26 minutes workable for English, Ethics, Reasoning and Quant, and what is the time per question?
  1. General English: 8 / 10 = 0.8 minutes (48 seconds).
  2. Ethics, Morality and Values: 6 / 10 = 0.6 minutes (36 seconds).
  3. Analytical & Logical Reasoning: 20 / 20 = 1.0 minute.
  4. Quantitative, DI & DS: 26 / 20 = 1.3 minutes (78 seconds).
  5. Total = 8 + 6 + 20 + 26 = 60 minutes.

Answer: Yes. Do English and Ethics first: 20 questions in 14 minutes, leaving 46 minutes for Reasoning and Quant. It is a starting split to test in mocks, not an official one.

  • General English (10): 48 seconds a question in the split above. Answer the quick items first and leave the slowest for the end of the block.
  • Analytical & Logical Reasoning (20): the biggest block with Quant. Start with arrangements you can finish in a minute.
  • Quantitative, DI & DS (20): 40 of 60 questions come from reasoning and quant together, which is 66.7% of the paper.
  • Ethics, Morality and Values (10): the section CAT does not have. Read each situation, find the principle at stake, and choose the option that respects it.

Three tests, one best score

You can sit up to three tests, and the highest score is used. The bulletin says both that the best-of-three scores are not normalised and that papers are normalised for difficulty across the three tests. That wording is ambiguous, so do not count on a bonus for a hard day.

Example. Compare the cost of one test with all three, for four programmes.
  1. Three tests: 3 x 2,550 = 7,650.
  2. Four programmes: 4 x 1,000 = 4,000.
  3. Three tests plus programmes: 7,650 + 4,000 = 11,650.
  4. One test plus programmes: 2,550 + 4,000 = 6,550.
  5. Difference = 11,650 - 6,550 = 5,100.

Answer: Rs 11,650 against Rs 6,550 before taxes. Two extra tests cost Rs 5,100, so pay for one only after your error log shows a fixable cause.

  • Test 1 is 13 December and Test 2 is 19 December: 6 days apart. That is enough to fix one weak topic, not three.
  • Test 2 and Test 3 (26 December) are 7 days apart.
  • Use Test 1 as a real attempt, not a trial. You pay Rs 2,550 for it either way.

A plan to Test 1

From 6 November to Test 1 on 13 December is 37 days. SNAP is short and fast, so the plan is about speed, not volume.

DaysFocus
1 to 14Fix basics: percentages, ratio, averages, arrangements, grammar. Time every drill at 1 minute per question.
15 to 28Sectional timed sets: 20 questions in 20 minutes for reasoning, 20 in 26 for quant. Add 10 Ethics cases a day.
29 to 35Full 60-minute mocks with the +1 / -0.25 scoring. Review each one for wrong answers that came from guessing without elimination.
36 to 37Light review. Check admit card, centre address and travel time.
